How to Program a 2017 Audi A6L Key Using KEYDIY KD-X4

In this guide, we’ll walk through programming a 2017 Audi key using KEYDIY KD-X4 key programmer, following a real-world workflow.

Once everything is ready, connect the KD-X4 to the vehicle and switch on the ignition when prompted.

Step 1: Automatic Vehicle Detection
After connecting the device, the KD-X4 will begin automatic vehicle detection.
Follow the on-screen instructions and turn on the ignition. The system will identify the vehicle and ECU automatically, saving time and reducing manual errors.

Step 2: Obtain IMMO Data (BCM2 Data Conversion)
The first key programming step is to obtain the BCM2 IMMO data.

Using the built-in BCM2 conversion function, the KD-X4 Locksmith’s Universal Tool reads and processes the necessary immobilizer data from the vehicle.

Once completed, confirm and save the data when prompted. A successful data save indicates you can proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Generate the Dealer Key
Next, the system checks whether a dealer key needs to be generated.
If the key has already been generated, this step will be skipped automatically. Otherwise, KD-X4 will guide you through generating the dealer key data.

Step 4: Key Learning Procedure
Now it’s time to learn the new key.

During this stage:
The system may prompt a sensor-related message
Insert the key as instructed
Follow the ignition ON/OFF sequence carefully

If only one key is being learned, you will need to:
Turn off the ignition

Insert the key
Turn the ignition back on
This allows the vehicle to register the new key correctly.

Step 5: Confirm Programming and Test Functions
Once the key learning process is complete:
Turn off the ignition to confirm
Test remote functions such as lock and unlock

Insert the original key and verify it still works
Start the vehicle to ensure successful programming

If the vehicle starts normally and all remote functions respond correctly, the key programming process is complete.
